NEWS RELEASE:
September 5, 2008: Slungle.net launches
After several months of research and design, the Slungle.net
community is finally ready for prime-time. Slungle is using a
blend of social networking, live broadcasting, community discussion,
and reality TV to create a truly integrated social media environment.
"Our
desire is to mashup the most compelling technologies to create an
environment that not only appeals to 'Generation Y', but also meets a
real need.", said Manny Martinez, Slungle co-founder and Partner.
"The Slungle model is looking to extend the enormously
successful friendship offerings of mySpace and
Facebook by reaching the hearts and minds
of this generation. We are not going to compete with these
main-stream social networks, but rather fill a void and use a
combination of social networking and broadcast media to address
real-life topics that today's youth face everyday."
Slungle.net
will leverage a social networking framework and integrate an IPTV
approach. When interviewed, founding partner Steven Horvath
noted, "Our focus is to truly offer and embrace a social media
environment to meet the needs of our community. We want to
use
the tools and technologies that our community is already accustomed and
extend their capabilities. Our focus is to create a
compelling
experience by addressing the difficult life
issues that we all face. We want to offer a 'reality-like'
experience that conveys the authenticity and depth of our Slungle
approach."
Slungle is also embracing and incorporating
professional media production services to create a unique
content
and an appealing venue. Slungle Partner and
co-founder Dan Rupple commented, "Traditional media is no longer
mainstream. Slungle is one of the first true social-media
communities that I have seen, and it is truly positioned to make a
significant difference. Technology convergence is
transitioning
how media production occurs, and we at Slungle are using new media to
create a truly interactive and engaging offering for 'Generation Y'."
Our production crew had a fun and eventful evening interviewing teens
at a local venue in the Los Angeles, California area. Dan
Rupple and his SeriouslyFunny.tv production crew interviewed random
youth asking them, "What is Slungle?". In the words of Dan,
"it was an extremely entertaining evening, with some very interesting
responses!"
We are extremely excited about the future and anticipate viral
growth as we open up our community. Our high-quality
broadcasting
and our production experience are poised to truly demonstrate how
traditional media is transitioning into the world of the online
broadcast. We anticipate that our social media environment
will
quickly become a leader in this new world of social media.
About Slungle: Slungle is a community for "Generation Y" that uses a
blend of social networking, live broadcasting, community discussion,
and reality TV to entertain and engage. Slungle is using social media
to impact a generation today for a more significant tomorrow.
